Shot of the Day - 03/30/10

I first got them in the twilight of 2006, and ever since, they have proven to be one of the best pairs of headphones I've ever had the pleasure of owning. They've been through girlfriends, jobs, new apartments, and new schools. No matter what the conditions, they continuously provided a solid stream of high dynamics without asking for anything in return. In honor of the time we spent together, I had them play one last song for me. As the final notes of "Televators," by The Mars Volta, came through the headphones, it seemed as if each note was just a bit cleaner, and a bit crisper than it had ever been before. They were a wonderful pair of headphones, and even better for putting up with my abuse. So, it is to you, AKG K-66, that I say goodbye; you have, quite literally, played the soundtrack of my life. Thank you.

Shot of the Day - 03/25/10

Another shot from Bhangra Fusion XI. This is a shot where the subject far outweighs any artistic merits of the photograph itself. In other words, I give all the credit for this photograph to the hard work of the performers.

Shot of the Day - 03/24/10

Taken at my friend's show opening at Kendall College in Grand Rapids, MI. Dustin Farnsworth built and crafted the View-Master, and Greg Oberle did all the original artwork viewed inside. And yes, it actually works.

Shot of the Day - 03/23/10

Bhangra Fusion favorites. I recently photographed "Bhangra Fusion XI," and I'll eventually put up the entire album, but for now, I want to share a few of my favorites. For your information, Bhangra Fusion is one of, if not the, biggest Bhangra dance competitions in the midwest.

Shot of the Day - I'll Be Back

Again, my education has reared its ugly head and I can't justify the time for the next few days to do a shot of the day. While you're waiting, feel free to enjoy some Dinah Washington.

Trainspotting. Literally.

Here are the rest of the images of the train that I edited, but didn't end up using for the "Shot of the Day": http://picasaweb.google.com/jdforslin/Trainspotting?feat=directlink

Shot of the Day - 03/08/10

Another angle on Grand Rapids. More attempts, futile or otherwise, to find a great place near me to make a detective film.

Shot of the day will be back tomorrow. For tonight, though, spring break has ended and it's time to relax. はるの休みですよ。

Shot of the Day - 03/02/10

Continued from the theme of yesterday. I can't tell if the stress of mid-terms is fueling or sapping my creativity. I do, sometimes, feel trapped by academia. I guess I'm wondering if it can be considered Stockholm Syndrome if I'm paying my captors?
